Archery Mule Deer Tips
« on: October 05, 2020, 06:31:09 AM »
Hello all,

Been a member on here awhile but only posted a couple times. I am originally from west side but now live in Spokane. Been archery hunting whitetails the last few years and have ended up shooting does. I told myself once I killed a buck out of a treestand I would be done and go hunt mule deer, since I honestly can’t stand it but thought if I had some action with some bucks I would really get into it.

Well, this year I finally killed my buck (opening day, pic below) and as cool as it was I still want to get out and spot and stalk mulies next fall. Been doing lots of research, looking at maps, reading topics on here, looking at harvest numbers, etc. and have a few places pinpointed where I’d like to start. Are there any general rules of thumb or pointers about the 200 unit mule deer hunts I should be aware of? Crowd numbers early vs late season? Crazy weather concerns in late season? Road access to trailheads? I prefer to get behind gates and can camp off my back.

I plan on exploring that part of the state quite a bit the rest of this fall and next spring/summer before I go. I have NEVER been to that part of the state which is another reason why I want to hunt it.

Any info would be helpful! Thanks!
