Sea duck hunting long beach?
« on: October 02, 2020, 07:48:23 AM »
I was considering trying sea duck this year and was looking at the long beach area. I found some small lakes such as loomis lake( I've been there once before for a couple minutes ). I don't have any decoys rigged for the ocean or a saltwater motor. I was wondering if loomis lake or any of the small lakes in the long beach area are huntable or good for sea duck?

You might get Goldeneye on the lake but not sure many other SEA ducks would be found there.   :dunno:  I never saw Sea ducks in the south end of the bay either.

Have you hunted the lakes there before? I know loomis has some houses on it. My main concern are houses nearby

Try the river. It will have a lot of scoter.

Check the riekkola unit on the southside of the bay. Have a kayak and hunt through the incoming tide.

As close to seaducks that you will get on Loomis is bufflehead and maybe an occasional GE.  For the most part it is Mallards, buffleheads and mergansers.  I have scene a few scaup on it over the years and some teal.  On Willipa you will get a mixed bag and a few scooters & GE more divers like BB & GE along with all your puddle duck species.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
