Just got back from Wyoming.
« on: October 05, 2020, 10:00:23 AM »
Just got back from hunting the Wyoming opener in region K. Deer numbers are down but we still got it done. Nephew shot a possible Booner. I’ll try to attach some pictures if I can. 5 bucks taken. I ended up shooting a really heavy 2x3 with eye guards and a 27 inch outside spread. Passed on him once but couldn’t pass on him twice!  My buddy and his son both shot nice 3x3's.  22 inches and 23 inches wide.  Most of the big bucks we saw were 3 points and most of the smaller up and coming bucks were small 4 points like my hunting partner ended up taking.  We were glad to get the big three's and my big 2x3 out of the gene pool and let the 4 points do the breeding this fall.

Great looking deer, all. Congrats on a successful hunt.

Pack outs aren't that bad.  We de-bone them on the spot and fill two game bags.  your partner takes your rifle along with his and the head and you tie nots in the tops of the two game bags to make it easier so they don't slip out of your hands and off you go!  In a rare case you go back for a pack frame but usually its faster and easier to just haul it out that way.  Where we hunt, once you get one down, its mostly down hill or flat back to the rig.  Now the place we hunt in Montana, that wouldn't work to well but on the ranch we hunt on in Wyoming it works great.

Nice! Some good bucks for you guys. I wouldn't have a problem taking that big old 2x3 you took. Well done over there.
