🤨 obviously you were doing it wrong if that’s your experience. Blackie huntin can be pretty rewarding if it’s done right. I’ll nominate that for one of the strangest posts of the year. :dunno:

Not worth it? You are doing it for the wrong reasons. You are also the kind of person that gets hunters as whole labeled in a negative manner.  :twocents:

There are plenty open lands. Some of the best blacktail hunting is on state land. I find blacktail hunting very rewarding.

Because posts like this make me smile when I go out and look at the mature Blacktail bucks I’ve harvested. I feel like I might know what the heck I doing out there 😂

I'll be back blacktail hunting next year for the first time in 15 years. Looking forward to it. Its definitely different than hunting the eastside but I miss it.. Do you mean 135 to have it cut and wrapped?

Different strokes for different folks.  As long as it is legal I am fine with whatever another hunter chooses to do.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

The only reason I haven't tried it is because it looks like a ton of work! Anyone that hunts them has my respect.

1.  Breech an open timber gate??
 2.  Rabbit deer?

1.  It sounds like you were somewhere in a vehicle you weren't supposed to be?  Or if you were on foot, why the need to run out?  Or maybe you were entirely somewhere you weren't supposed to be?   Regardless, any of the above would certainly detract from the experience.

2.  I don't find blacktails to be rabbit deer.  I've killed plenty with bigger bodies than some of the whitetails I've shot in my life.  They aren't corn fed midwest whitetails but they are plenty big enough imo.

So, can I ask, what was the purpose of your post before I make some incorrect assumptions?

Don’t go
They are thin horned scrawny little deer
I’d recommend you go for whitetail

Super nice rebuttal to the sour grapes.  I'm still wondering where the word "costed" is in the dictionary.  I looked, but.......

So enlighten us, were you illegally hunting behind the "timber gate", or did you just drive behind a gate that was closed, and you did not have the "legality" to drive behind  :dunno:

Let this thread die.  I don't think she's coming back to discuss it.  Next, I'll bet she's going to complain about driving across the state just to shoot a tiny whitetail.  Must be the Covid lockdown that's eating at her.  Hope she finds happiness in her next hunt.

You BOYS Laugh all you want. I was in the woods before U were born! Hunted Monroe/Duvall hills with KEYS to all gates. My Uncle garded the Cedar Timber harvested back then 1995-2000.
Yes I DID have permission to enter. Just had to time those Logging truck coming out-Of-there! They wanted to make a Buck on they're loads! They would RUN-ONE-OVER IF you got in their way!!!
Got my first buck out here, a spike 2" side x side. Meat was great for a clear-cut young deer! Lots of Grouse too.. Soo just be nice and understanding PLEASE!!!! :hello:

Byod Iverson Blacktail Trophy Tactics.... And yes sadly  hunting a location is more important to find than anything else. Blacktail bucks are hard, the ones i have on camera are nocturnal, the does eat really good tho. Blacktail hunting will make other kinds of deer easy IMO.

Sooooo, meat was great, lots of grouse, not sure the rant from your original post!?  Because you're afraid of getting run over by a log truck?  There are lots of places to hunt that aren't being logged at the moment.  Way back then (1995-2000  :chuckle:)  were some of the best blacktail hunting I've ever had.

Still think Im 30
No more gutter cleaning or jumping off of the now of my boat

Ain't that a b#tch?
My head still thinks i am 30, my body says woah there Nelly, stop and smell the power bait, let the young and dumb, and full of....................................themselves jump first, then have a drink to their health, knowing you did that, much better in your youth,   :chuckle:
Only 2 defining forces sacrificed themselves for you:
The American Soldier and Jesus Christ. One died for your freedom, the other for your soul.

He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.

Still think Im 30
No more gutter cleaning or jumping off of the bow of my boat

62 and feeling every day of it.  I have kids in their early teens that I take to the skate park almost daily.  I so want to jump on a skateboard like I used to do back in the 70's.  "Broken hip" images sound the warning sirens in my brain every time I even stand on one.  Just can't do it....   >:( >:(

Close to 30 and feel like I'm older than 62. I'm afraid to get there.

Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.

Im still a few weeks from 38 and im getting there.

As of August, I'm closer to 40 than 30, and the hair on top left a couple years ago. What is left is quickly going gray. A quick view of the chest and back hair would make you think I was on the cusp of retirement. Both in the amount and color.  :yike:

You guys made the mistake of growing hair in the first place. Been shaving my head for 30 year's and haven't missed it one bit. And I don't look a day over 20 :chuckle:

Cryder would be a great addition to this thread..... just saying

I'm over 50 and still not half my grandmothers age, guess it's all how you look at it.

Oh, it's only just begun.  Soon you'll be sprouting hair out of your ears, Your eyebrows will grow two-inch wild ones, and if you're really gifted, you may get a few on the tip of your nose!  Who says growing old is no fun?  Enjoy! :chuckle:

Haha, oh all of that has been happening for some time now. I am apparently gifted in the hair dept. Minus my head.

I don't know what the fuss is about being old and being 62. I started deer hunting in Washington in 1953 and will be going this year, 68th tag. One of my old friends just hunted Elk with muzzle loader by self out of tent, in western washington, for several gads. He is getting old at 81.

Lady Grouse Hunter is probably older than him too!

Sadly, we don't all age at the same rate.  75 to some people sometimes compares to early 90's for others.  I've met some 85 year olds that put me to shame.  What are you going to do about it.  I'm just hoping I don't live to see Kamala Harris become the Commander In Chief when Biden dies.  That will roll me over in my grave for sure.  Hopefully, she'll never even have a chance.
