We're going hard at it and only seeing a few does and spikes. So far, the public lands around  Emmett are over grazed and over run with people.
I'm really surprised.  Six years ago,  we were finding 25 to 75 deer a day. Are they still recovering from a bad winter? Or just getting clobbered by the increased human population?

You'll never get a Big'un if you keep shooting Little'un's.

I had to go father back to find bucks this year. Don't know if it's weather or increased hunting pressure, or both... saw a lot of does, just got lucky seeing the two bucks before they bedded down.

Ended up seeing 7 does, one spike, one forky over 5 days, without firing a shot.  Heading home on Thursday.  I'm amazed as to how much pressure is in that unit, and, holly cow! the quads numbered in the hundreds even in areas where they are not allowed.

I have a quad - at home, but was annoyed when three guys on quads tried to go up in my hunting area on theirs. Luckily the trail was blocked off and with signs. If it's that easy to get around, too many people will be there.

Winter of 2016-17 saw something like 95% winter kill in the weiser & payette areas. With all of the pressure those areas may never recover
