MT bound! When are you headed out?
« on: October 14, 2020, 06:13:43 PM »
Last year I left WA for MT on 11/14 for the week for deer hunting. I’m headed over a week earlier this year. I’m headed out on 11/6. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s a difference on the deer behavior. When are y’all headed over for your deer hunts?

My daughter and I will be over there for the week before thanksgiving if my parents health holds out. I often wonder about all the bucks that are harvested before we show up, but someone in the group usually shoots a better than average 4 point. It's been nice to take the kids there because they will get multiple opportunities and are likely to shoot a 4 point.

Leaving Saturday for a week of antelope hunting then will stay on for deer week one.

I will be heading over to fill my elk tag after I get back from Alaska, looking like next Saturday I will be heading out. Looking at the area between big timber and Columbus

You should see a difference in people if nothing else.  I'm headed over early Nov as well.  I used to do the opener, but then asked myself why I would deal with the first few or last few days, so I shoot for somewhere in the middle.

Seems to make perfect sense..

Will you be using Llama's?

Headed out 10/22 hunt the first week this year.  Last year hunted the third week and didn't see an elk and only two-point mule deer.  Wish I was still a resident and had five weeks.

Will you be using Llama's?

Not this trip, not really any backcountry or areas I can’t reach with the quad and a hike.

Heading to Western Montana to hunt mainly whitetails on the 21st. Hoping for some cold weather, few inches of snow and rut in full swing
