Thank goodness they came out with .284 win and not something thats actually relevant 🤦‍♂️

I saw that and thought the same thing.

I'm sure the PRC shooters and 300 Win folks will be thrilled to have premium brass available.  I'd have thought some WSM brass would have been a good choice but I guess not.

I was shooting some .308 and .30/06 Lapua cases and in the beginning I was miking the case necks to minimize the run out.  I gave up miking them as the worst I saw was .0005 out of round.  That's not enough to sneeze at.  They ranged from .0140 to .0145 in neck thickness.   Having said that I also shot some bulk Remington brass that varied .006 in neck thickness.  It was all over the place in measurements and not what I'd expect for brass from the same lot.  I shot a national record with what I felt was crappy brass.

blows me away wsm brass isn't being made by anyone worth noting.  Peterson has been coming in hot with some chamberings.  They are on par in consustency with Lapua.  Not deep enough into firings to say they will hold up like lapua but initial quality and consistency is fantastic

Well they could of settled the 300 wm vs 300 prc if they had come out with only one but the debate continues......  300 wm with lapua brass and Berger 215's though hmmm

Hard to find good brass anywhere these days.  Looking through the cases they manufacture, some real odd ball calibers.

lapua hates America and money im fairly certain. Must be a big European market that we aren't aware of.  I kind of get it. The shooting world has historically been more concerned with quality and more willing to pay for it vs the hunting community but this is 2020. The shooting community and hunting world are blending. Hunters want quality and are will to dump big bucks into it. Then again there's still guys building $3,000+ rifles with $1,500 scopes that won't shell out the money for good brass. Then can't figure out why they get constant fliers and es's in the 30's :chuckle:

It'll be interesting to see what the case capacities are of those two.  The 300 Win usually runs right around 95gr H2O and the 300 PRC with Hornady brass is 97-99gr H2O.

With the new Lapua brass coming out in these two if case capacity is relatively equal, I'll take the shorter fatter case with no belt every time.

What is a good alternative to Lapua? Norma ADG Nosler?  I need to order another 200 cases over the winter.

Can't speak for others but I'll admit, having been a nearly exclusive Lapua brass user for many years now its kinda turned me into a brass snob and with the exception of my 7mm Blaser and 17 Hornets I won't have anything chambered that doesn't have Lapua brass available for it.

Using premium brass is kind of like using top level optics and once you get accustomed to their quality you're totally screwed from every using a less than product.

The last Nosler brass I bought was completely overpriced garbage. Maybe I just got a bad batch

Norma makes great quality brass but it just won't stand up to the abuse Lapua brass will and you'll start to lose primer pockets sooner which is usually what goes first in brass.

I've heard ADG is some pretty tough sheet so if ADG makes brass for what you have that's who I'd go with.  Also, maybe check out Alpha Munitions.  I don't have any first hand experience but I've heard it's pretty good.

I really dont think the .04 case length difference has any impact at all on performance between the prc and win mag. Same goes for the .02 diameter difference in shoulder diameter.

This isnt to say that case capacity doesnt have an affect because it obviously does.

Also imo the “evil dreaded” belt is 100% a nonissue for reloaders.

I will have a few hundred lapua win mag brass just as soon as i can get it in my mitts.

i had some early add stuff that wasn't very impressive but I hear enough good things from folks I trust that I'd not shy away from it if I needed to go that route. Nosler is just crap for what it costs. I hear about how soft norma is and how fast it goes but ive got 10 firings on my 300 wsm brass and they are loaded with number 11 as we speak. Still holding primers. Also use norma in 28 nosler and 300 win nag with good results. Lapua is king but id also look at peterson as its been top notch so far
