300 h&h
« on: January 16, 2021, 08:10:46 PM »
I'm hoping on taking my grandpas rifle on a hunt this year, its been in the safe for over 20 years and would like to get it out and hopefully  get a little use out of it, looking for input on bullets, I'm thinking 180gr but also considering 165gr. Any input is appreciated.

I would run some 180's out of it. See what it likes. I am a big fan of accubonds in most of my 30cal+ rifles.

I have a single shot 300 H&H that loves the 180 grain Federal trophy bonded tip ammo and that is what I used for my elk and it did great.  The other ammo that shot well was the Hornady 180 grain Interbond.   The interbond was actually punching holes through one of those little ar500 plates at 100 yards while the trophy bonded tip and Nosler Accubonds were putting big dents in it.

Have you taken any critters with the interbonds?

Got a couple boxs of Hornady custom loaded with 180gr interbonds on the way, hopefully they will work.

I have a few rounds I've collected over the years. If you're fairly local I'll round em up and give em to you. No clue what they are other than h&h...

I have taken animals with mine with both 180 grain nosler paritions and barnes triple shock. Produced by Federal. Before were very accurate out of my rifle.

Model 70 Winchester. My great grandfather traded his service pistol for it in 1951. He shot solid lead bullets he cast on his kitchen stove.
