The odds of him surviving and then you finding him during season the next year are low at best.  Im not passing a fine mature buck like that in hopes of seeing him in the future as a better buck.

It's just about what has become an oil tag, these late mule deer tags.  That's a very good deer.  But you can't see the on side rear fork.  The frame is mature, but he may not be very wide, his on side ear is laid back nearly flat and you can see where it's touching the main.  I'm waiting for the AH-HA post from Bone that is more head on.  The angle leaves too much to the imagination.  It's a great deer, not sure based on the pic he's a first day Nov mule deer hunt critter.  Keep in mind, I'd be ok with not taking a deer on that hunt in hopes of seeing everything I can.

lol, just needs more, BUT, I realize in real time with little time to judge him, it might be impossible to pass.  I’ve killed a few deer that if I had more time to judge them I’d have passed on. And he is thin antlered
