I just got back from the Scookumchuck and the birds are quiet, not gobbling right now, I would wait a few weeks.

FWIW I have hunted the Skookumchuck 04/15, 16, 18, & today and I've heard birds gobbling each time. Although I haven't shot one yet I came real close yesterday; had one about 75-80yds away, coming on on a string! Another hunter, seeing me working a gobbler, tried to set up between me & the bird & spooked him. >:( >:( >:( After I got done talking to him I can guarantee he won't be back hunting my spot again! :boxin: :guns: ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

My neighbors hired hand shot one about 100 yards from my back fence this morning while I was spraying fields.  There were some *censored*bags hunting for them off of quads across the road on Weyerhaeuser land.  I guess that it is okay to trespass on a quad as long as something is in season, eh?

The Powerlines are by written permission only.  Unless he meant using the powerlines as a tree stand :chuckle:

If anyone lost a parking permit at the powerline access road gate on Friday you may want to get a hold of the Pierce Co. Security guy, he has your WDFW parking permit ;)

The Powerline access road off shoohumchuck Rd is all private, the whole hill for about 400 yards to the right looking up the powerline and to the left. There are a few that keep walking up there that dont have permission. There is  a new clearcut rhat borders the backside of the Private stuff also . I live right accrosss the road . PM me if you would like some more info. Good luck Turkey hunting!

Nitro, congrats on your 2 birds. Let me know if you need some help finding your eastern
