I headed out last Friday to E. MT and had a week to hunt. Sunday was hit with a massive white out blizzard for two days. Made getting around very difficult, much less hunting. Skies finally opened up and I was able to hike into an area I had been trying to get to. After seeing and passing on 10 other bucks that day, smaller 4’s and handful of younger bucks, I was able to get in on this guy and notch my tag. With the conditions not going to get any better with temps in the single digits at night and being by myself, I was more than happy to end the hunt with a solid buck.

With only a half hour left of daylight I had to get to work and was able to pack the front shoulders, neck meat, and head and cap out that evening. Was just short of 3mi from the truck and hiking in sometimes knee deep snow and temp down to 1 it made for a long trek out. Was able to make it back well after dark with the first load.

Being sore and exhausted I went back in the next morning and packed the rest of the buck out. Thankfully not touched by any predators and obviously stayed nice and cold.

It’s always a great feeling when you finally get that last load back to the truck and all is said and done. I had to laugh at the game cart when I was taking the last pic cuz it was basically a waste of space. But if I didn’t bring it I woulda needed it I’m sure..lol I love going back every year cuz you just never know what what kind of adventure it will be.
