Took little Lady (5 months now) on her first hunt yesterday. She found two birds we shot. Both we would not have found without a dog. She stayed very close until we met up with my other son and older dog. Lot’s of fun. My younger son was so proud of her.

I know very little but that sounds pretty outstanding for a young pup.

I’ve seen these work in hunt tests and they’re really cool to watch. Sooo much different from typical pointing breeds.

Last weekend ended this little pups play time. She got plenty of good exposure this hunting season and on the last hunt got hot on scent and put a covey up. My boy was talking to the breeder and he said these dogs can be slow to develop. So on to whoa training with patience and no rush. I’m really pleased so far with her stamina and coordination. She went on a couple of long hunts at the end (7+ miles 1000’ elevation climb) 6 months old no problem what so ever. No boot polishing not even at the end of the day. I’m excited to see where she will be next year.

A couple of weeks ago my son took his pup through the natural ability test. She did great! I was so happy for my son and can’t wait to get a full year of hunting under this dog’s feet and see what the wild birds can teach her. I think that she is going to be a very good chukar dog.

That’s awesome!! Good job! That’s neat to see your son doing the work and responsibility! Just got a dog myself and will be taking it through NA next spring.

Man I learned something new after raising dogs for my whole life . I have never heard of the breed before and would have swore that pup was a red tick hound.  (I had hounds for over 20 plus years till the hippies outlawed my seasons). I have Chessie's now and hunt mostly waterfowl with them, only an occasional rooster or sharptail (Mt).
