Any info about this rifle

So a friend of mine recently inherited this rifle, as he is really not a firearms guy he sent me some pics and wanted to know if i could give him any info on it, and im a little stumped.
Obviously 45-70
Octagon barrel, breech load single shot like a sharps but i only see one trigger
The name stamp and Seattle Wash 1968 i think may of been the original owner?
I have not put my hands on it so not sure if any other markings, he says there are not but who knows
This will more than likely wind up in my safe i am just not sure of a fair price at this point

I did say bring it over and lets shoot it, he says that would hurt, poor baby i told him 12ga with 3.5 goose loads would be alot worse

Definitely custom made. I'd say the name stamped on is the gunsmith who built it.

Looks to be a Martini action with re- barrel and restock.

That's a .303 British Enfield Martini that has been restocked and re-barreled...  Personally I wouldn't shoot it with off the shelf 45-70 until you got it checked out.... probably ok, but I'm chicken *censored*..

Going to have it checked out and hopefully lob some lead with it

Martini-Henry,...... not Enfield,.... was made at Enfield but probably not a 303 Enfield. Original caliber was 577/450.... used in the Boer wars in Africa among other places.

That screw is likely a retainer. The cut out on the head tells me to rotate so you can tap the pin out that likely has a groove in it.

Nope... the badging is completely different.... same basic action, otherwise not even close.

Let's hope not . If I had a Custom Rifle made and the Gunsmith stamped his info that crooked on it . I wouldn't want the rifle .

Yep, Martini action.   I have two in the vault:  One stripped of barrel and stock intended to be a black powder cartridge rifle, maybe a 45-110.   (Yep, black powder, smokeless cartridges should not be used in the Martini)  This will be a cast bullet gun.

The other one is a 14 gauge shotgun, think they were exported to India way back in the dark century.

I do not recommend using modern smokeless loads in the Martini.
