Saw six or seven blue grouse yesterday on the coast. One group of five were feeding on salmon berries.

I have killed a fair number of blue and ruffed grouse over the years, and I have seen some mammoth-sized blues that could literally feed two people with just the breast meat and legs.  I used to see grouse all the time up the Snoqualmie Middle Fork, but not anymore.  (Maybe the greenies ran them out?  :chuckle:)

But I love grouse hunting. Blues get me up high and I find them in places where other people don't even look.

How many people actually noticed that the wdfw increased the bag limit on grouse from 3 to 4 birds?

Just noticed  ;)
Haven't seen very many the last couple years.

probably just like raising the limit to 6 steelhead on the cowlitz river the last 2 years -- nobody's gonna catch that many, so it doesn't hurt :dunno:

in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Played Gold Mountain golf course last weekend and saw 4 adult grouse, 2 were sitting in a tree just off the path (nice sized ruffs) and 2 were hens with chicks.  9 chicks total between the two.  Looks to be a good year in that area.  Funny thing was, I was hearing gun shots the whole time I was out there.

Montana Blue.  My son spotted him while we were scouting for mule deer.
