I was more responding to mountainman.

Did they really tell you it was $150 to change the fuse or did they tell you it was $150 to diagnose an electrical issue? I’m assuming if you knew it was just a fuse,  you wouldn’t have needed to take it to a dealership but I might be wrong.  I’ve gotten lots of cars fixed by replacing fuses. I’ve also never charged any of those people an hour’s labor to do it. I have charged them a half hour labor though.  We don’t have a crystal ball and we have no way of knowing a fuse is blown when you roll in. You don’t work for free… do you? No

:yeah: Maintenance schedule at 25k miles.  Oil, fuel air inspection and lube.  In manual it is due for oil change and fuel filters.  I bought OEM parts $165? Oil $70.  Doing it today for second time.  So yeah it is at least $500+ for hours wortk of work at most.   I also have fuse bad for trlr light.  I asked about that and quote was 1 hour at $150.  FU Dealership. :sry:
Yes, I never go to a dealership for repairs. There are plenty of good repair shops and mechanics at a third the price of dealership repairs, you just have to find them. Hourly charge trumps billable hour most every time👍
Where do you work? Do they do work for less than operating cost?

Yes it is the rght trailer blinking fuse.  Micro 15 amp.  Under hood in fuse box.  Already diagnosed.  Yes it was in there for a multi thousand repair under recall.  YES they quoted $150.   Yes I often do things for my customers for "free".  Children hands in concrete for example.  Should I charge the 3yo kid for that effort ya think?  Yes many things pop up and no I dont micro charge every detail but instead try to make customer happy and to feel good they hired a respectful considerate person.

So you told them to replace the fuse and they still tried to charge you $150 to do it? That's lame.

I feel like actually diagnosing an electrical problem and replacing a fuse is probably a little bit more involved that letting a 3 year old stick his hand in some wet concrete though.

Funny.  Maybe owners dog running across the slab is better example then.  Either way bad fuse diagnosed and removed and set on the counter at dealership.  I asked if they could install a new one.  So there ya go.  Another customer lost 100%.  I will try another dealer or shop if needed in future.
