Montana archery elk - planning 3 years out: What should I look for?

Hello all,
I have never done a destination hunt before and I know I have my homework cut out for me. I am looking at a few outfitters, including:
https://www.montanabiggameoutfitters.com/
http://www.montana-outfitters.net/
https://www.theeliteoutfitters.com/listing/big-sky-guide-and-outfitters-of-montana-llc/
https://www.mtriversandridges.com/
http://www.montanaoutwest.com/
I plan on calling them all and giving them my hunting background (limited, only success with rifle) and asking whatever questions I can think of.
The reason for my post is
what sort of questions should I ask that may not be obvious? For people who have used out of state outfitters, have there been any "gotcha" things that have come up that you didn't think about beforehand but that you wish you knew?
I have a multi-year gameplan between now and archery elk season of 2023 (which will be my 40th birthday, hence the big trip) and will be honing my skill in archery, physical fitness and my bank account
I'll be driving out, and I am aware of the limitations on CWD and that it will need to be a consideration for transport.
Thank you for your time.

ask for references. When you do, ask for references from hunters who have been both successful and not successful

References and what properties they have leased for the general tag. What kind of hunting they do, success rates, what's included, what's extra.

I would do a DIY breaks tag, but if you want an outfitter bear paw is where I would start.
