Beef Pizzle
« on: December 17, 2020, 09:59:58 AM »
Does anyone have an idea where I can get raw beef pizzle to dry/smoke for my dogs?  Bully sticks are the best dog treat in my opinion, but $30 for 12 at Costco is the best price I can get them for.  I have tried several places including Asian markets here in Spokane but to no avail.  Even called the wholesalers Ameristar and US foods for information.  Maybe they think I'm a crazy person. :chuckle:  Who knows.  I did find out that they are extremely regulated for some reason, probably the pet industry keeping things down.

Here is a link for Alibaba that sells them for cheap.  But can't get them here and you have to buy a ridiculous amount of penis.

I would love to get a box of frozen ones and give it a whirl.  I've done the soup bones and knuckles before but bully's last longer and you don't step on them in the middle of the night.

Hmm.  Those do sound bigger/premium-er.  Thank you.
Just weird I can't source raw ones.

Have you checked any of the smaller mom and pop slaughter house/butcher shops? I’m sure the big ones have contracts to sell them but a lot of the guys doing local animals Probably just toss it with the rest of the guts

My wife just googled what “Pizzle” was!  :yike:

OMG! I was on the floor laughing, she was totally freaked she had it in Her hands, then I told her they can be over 30 inches long.

Hahaha!  So funny.   It is truly a unicorn.  I have called mom and pop butchers (quite impressed by the amount call backs) and nothing doing.  Just a couple mobile butchers, like 2 but they said no and I can’t say I blame them.  So weird.  I even asked a rancher buddy and he doesn’t have answer either, except to call Texas because they do way more down there.  I tried a couple places there but nothing set fire.  Not even a smolder really.
