Super Cheap meat finds at Costco
« on: December 17, 2020, 04:39:48 PM »
Ever stumble onto super to good to pass up sales on meat at Costco or other places?
Last spring after or like the day or two before Easter they had giant spiral cut hams for pennies on the dollar.
This time we went with zero intention of buying any proteins, i was told before we went in that we needed no meat or seafood, but as luck would have it we passed an end case that had whole pork loins in it, for -$8.00 each no limit  :yike: normal price was $1.99 per lb
Trick to get the best deal was to find the smaller ones my wife said as she dove in the case and came out with 4, total weight of 29.04 lbs which at normal price would of been $57.79, but with 8 off each one she paid $25.79, or .89c lb

She said she went full Mormon on that one  :chuckle:
She would of gotten more but did not want to feel greedy

To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

I have some pork loin steaks thawing that was the same deal! Had to pull from the garage freezer though to make room for this year’s elk meat! Man, almost had to buy another freezer!

Not at Costco, but I was at a small market that sold veggies and had a small freezer selling king crab legs.  The freezer broke and the owner didn't eat seafood and the legs were already half thawed out by the time he found it.  He asked if I wanted to buy them, I said "how much?" and he replied, $20 for everything.  There were three boxes in there, we ate well that night.  Also got some scallops and I think a random piece of fish or two that were under the crab.

We picked up 2 whole in bag prime ribs at Safeway. Normal price on each was 350.00 out the door @ think it’s 4.97 a pound was 120 each. One is cut into 3 roasts and the other steaks for the grill. Hard to beat for 5.00 a pound!!!

Couple months ago we found 5-6 packages of beef tenderloin, cut and trimmed for $9.99/lb. (Cheapest Ive ever seen it after being in the business for 27 years)
Still kickin myself for only buying 3 packages.  :bash:

Great score.  I love grilling those up with a rub, then making Cubanos the next day.

They ran the pork loin deal over here in Spokane last month but the limit was 2.  Their whole chickens were .99c per pound as well.

Costco here in OKC, has a killer deal on the best looking pork ribs I have ever seen. Three full racks, trimmed and skinned, packaged together for $21 dollars.
My wife rarely eats ribs. I can eat a lot of ribs but it still takes awhile to go through three racks by yourself.

I think ribs are almost better leftover, great taste and none of the work.  My family isn't good with leftovers so I end up eating ribs for several days and really love them.
