Bobcat dogs!
« on: January 06, 2021, 11:33:37 AM »
Hello, I’m looking for heavily bread bobcat dogs. Don’t need a started dog. A pup would be fine. I just want something that’s was bread for the sole purpose of catching bobcat! Let me know if anyone has anything. And as the replies roll in, if anyone knows of the dogs a reference post would be good. Thank you

Maybe some help from the Idaho members. Probably Not too many in Washington training or running bloodlines for something they can’t use

Lots of guys in Oregon still run bobcats as well.

You should look for a dog from the area you want to hunt. You don't want to buy a line that is bred for snow hunting and take them to the desert. Depending on what you are looking for Oregon and Montana would be good places to start. Most guys I know from Idaho are more into bear hunting.

Thanks everyone! I look in most other states. I guide in Idaho for cats and have traveled to Oregon as an out of state hunter as well. I honestly was hoping for a few kennels or names to be thrown out there for me to keep in mind. I have bought too many dogs online that have turned out to be nothing they were said to be. Took me a while to realize that a hound hunter usually doesn’t sell good ones. Been tricked before I guess.

Are you looking for trained dogs or dogs to train?

Maybe talk to Jim Harrel Harrel’s high lonesome blue ticks. I have not purchased a pup from him directly but have a dog I got as a pup that has a lot of his blood line. That dogs 7 and has been very good for me. He’s good on bobcat but I have done it all with him bobcat, lion, bear and Coons. At least a name for you if you haven’t already found one

You may look into Phipps Big game hounds in Utah, https://phippsbiggamehounds.com/

I don't have personal experience with them but I ran with some folks a long time ago that mentioned the name and his dogs.
