109s same as 209s?
« on: January 08, 2021, 08:58:37 PM »
I have a couple hundred CCI 109 primers from "an estate". Are they interchangeable in a Knight 209 conversion kit?  Going to be shooting a new Wolverine (name gag). Could not find a definitive answer from the expert interweb thing.  They appear to be (mostly) interchangeable with 209s for SG reloads, but trying to get some first hand knowledge in a MZ application.  My mic measurements show statistically no difference in seating diameters.

From Shotgun World "The 109 CCI's are the same as 209 CCI's. the difference is that one is plated, and the other is not. Originally done to make the unplated one cheaper." In my experience loading over 100K shot shells with 209's primers is the actual diameter of the primer off the top of my head 209's CCI, WIN, and FED's are .235 some of the European are about 100K over so it the fit and go bang your good.
