Last Upland Weekend
« on: January 09, 2021, 05:16:22 PM »
Hey guys, fairly new to Upland Hunting and just picked my 7 month old Puppy up from the trainer today. Did a little more training on my own out at Reds today on some pheasants but am going to try and find some wild birds on the last open weekend. Any ideas where to go for birds besides the pheasant release sites? I was planning on hunting up between Umtanum and Selah but after looking at it today I don’t know if there’s enough new vegetation after the fires. Thanks in advance!

Never ever seen a true wild pheasant out that way, but did take a youth out there to the wenas a month ago to show him a few spots and found chukar and huns in the unburned islands on Umtanum ridge.

Thanks fore the info! Should have clarified, would be looking for Chukar or Huns. Have also heard quail are a fun bird to start a young dog on but I’m thinking I’d probably need to head a little farther east for those?
