Excavator sales tax
« on: January 11, 2021, 01:27:41 PM »
Looking at new Kubota excavators. If I live in WA and buy a new excavator in OR, because excavators are not licensed can I avoid sales tax?

The cameras on the bridges crossing into Oregon are monitored. I know some one that was hit with "USE" tax which you are supposed to pay if you bring something back into Washington. They hit big ticket items being towed by personal vehicles. I happen to know some one whom this happened to.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

I get your "required" to report such purchases.  But would a new equipment dealer make me pay sales tax because I'm a WA resident?

You can avoid sales tax but are obligated to pay use tax which is the same rate as sales tax at your address of residence.

This is not true. I know plenty of guys that have purchased rifles in OR that live in WA and we’re not taxed. I also know of someone that purchased a skid steer with no issue.

Only a matter of time before Washington residents are charged sales tax when shopping in Oregon as Washington is losing millions as consumers fail to report and pay their required use tax.    :bash:
