just think about how crazy it would be if every state had to check your ID and then adjust sales tax rates on the fly for whatever state you lived in.  In WA, tax varies by county so they would have to apply hundreds, if not thousands of different tax rates.

That is exactly the world we live in for Online sales right now.    Different states have difference thresholds (CA raised theirs up to $500k sales before you need to worry about it and also puts Amazon on the hook if sold through them.   Stores could easily use the same app to enter your zip and add in the tax or be done by the POS automatically.   Its not a technology issue which means its coming.  You already legally have to pay tax for in store purchases in oregon if they are delivered to WA by the seller.

I don't see how the state of WA can enforce requirements on a store in OR that doesn't ship stuff to WA.  What jurisdiction do they have? :dunno:

Only a matter of time before Washington residents are charged sales tax when shopping in Oregon as Washington is losing millions as consumers fail to report and pay their required use tax.    :bash:

:yeah: Also, angry neighbor, disgruntled employee. Service dealer. It's just a mater of time before the blood suckers want their share of your hard work.  :twocents:

And we're only talking OR here.  How excited would ID be to give away their 6% for sales to WA residents so they can collect higher WA rates and mail it back over the border?  Nogonna happen.
