Mechanical jet ski question
« on: March 07, 2021, 03:00:00 PM »
I'm getting ready to do a mini jet boat build.  I got a running motor and pump that has already been removed from the ski.  I knew it was missing the drive shaft.  the one I found looks like it's direct drive from the motor to the impeller.  No shear pin or clutch of any type.  Is this common?  Seems sketchy to have zero damage protection.  This is a 96 attic cat tigershark.  The motor is a suzuki.

BTW I may be interested In a broken down tigershark Monte Carlo 900 for parts.

There should be a coupler with a rubber bushing between the motor and pump. But other than that its direct drive. At least it was 15 years ago when i was into them.  :chuckle:
