The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

Well, I am back from Cascade. I caught a ton of fish and had a blast. Sadly, I was not able to break the 2lb club this time. My biggest was 1.94lbs. I caught several that were over 1.5 lbs and overall I have nothing to complain about. It was a great trip and I can't wait to go back next year.

Things that I learned from my two trips there this year.

1) In early January there was no slush to speak of and it was not even a concern. A little more than a month later and boy what a difference. The slush was so bad that the snowmobiles got stuck several times and it made certain areas of the lake unfishable.

2) My DIY jigging machine worked really well and it actually caught more fish than the name brad one. Also, it caught 2 fish over 2 lbs (Not the ones pictured) but I was too far to get to it so one of the other guys got it both times.

3) That lake will keep you on your toes. We kicked absolute butt the first day and the following 3 days were a struggle. Lots of moving and drilling. We made it happen but it was hard work for sure. I probably used 20 different types of jigs/lures and strangely I would catch a few fish on them and then it would die and I would have to change. New jig, couple more fish and then it would die again. So, lots of moving and tying but we stayed on the fish.

Nice! I’m sure the ice is probably going to be sketchy from here on out I would imagine. We actually had good dry ice our first day then 2 days later it was super slush during a blizzard, night and day difference.

Yeah, that slush is no fun at all. It was almost a foot deep in some spots and that was under a foot of snow
