I got in yesterday with help. When you buy the license have it start on the 9th. That way you can apply next year without buying the license. I have 15 elk points. License is 160 draw is 15
Appreciate the tip!

My wife and I drew early archery bull in AZ the last two years (we were residents then, she shot a bull in 19 and I got one in 20). This year I just put her in for pronghorn (she has 16 points) and bonus points for elk. Maybe this will be her year since we'll have to pay NR prices this year. The good news is we got the lifetime licenses so the NR cap doesn't apply.

I knew you could do that for UT but I thought az had to be valid at the time of the draw. I could be wrong
You are correct sir.  Need to buy a licence each year.

 :yeah:
It tells you when you apply your license must be valid on the day of the draw.

When is the deadline(s) for other species? I know elk and antelope is 2/9, but when is mule deer, coues deer and javelina?

Still on the fence here, I see some of you with a lot of points.  At 51, I'm not sure waiting 20 years to draw is in the cards.  Are there elk archery units that are quality yet only a few points to draw, or is this a waste of time/money assuming it takes 20+ years?  Thanks guys, down to the wire now.

I think the late rifle hunts in AZ would be the best bet if just starting to get points.

So I understand how wa works, 90% understand WY but how does AZ work as far as points and being able to draw?  Can a guy draw with 1 or 2 points, is there a percentage for top point holders?  Mike, so it's easier to draw a late rifle over an early archer tag???  That seems backwards to me????

Yes much easier you could get a late tag in a solid unit in about half the time as early archery. In AZ up to 10% go to non resident, half of those go to top point guys and the other go random so you could draw any elk tag any year in the random.

Listen to the last couple Randy Newberg podcasts.  He really dives into AZ.  It'll give you a pretty good understanding of their system.

I believe only 20% go to the top point holders on the first pass and 80% go to a random draw (with bonus points) on the second pass.

Anybody else having issues with bonus points from previous years being displayed? Was on hold with their tech support for an hour today but never got through to anyone (will try again after the deadline as I’m sure they’re busy). I should show as having 2 points. I said it last year but I strongly dislike their website! Regardless I’m in for this year.
