A quick let’s go shoot a cow in jeans, no pack, no gloves, no hat and only a leather man put me 6 miles away from the truck. After breaking the elk down with a leatherman multi tool it was too cold to wait there for my buddy to get to me with pack boards so I started hiking his direction just to stay warm. The primos shooting sticks don’t work anymore and this killed my shoulders but I didn’t freeze to death.

Newest heaviest pack out pic. 230 lbs between the 2 of us. Good thing it was almost all down hill. 2.5 miles and only fell down 3 times.
Painful 3 falls tho with antlers getting my calf twice .

My 2020 spike elk, my first and only pack out.
Pack weighed around 70-75 pounds more or less, i was carrying a hindquarter and all of the rib meat and my dad was carrying the other quarter with backstraps. The head and shoulders were packed out first.
To note I'm 5'0 and about 120 pounds, so a little more than half my body weight...would do it again in a heartbeat.

Glad to see this thread revived. Get out there and start training people. Hunting season is coming.

Worst pack out I had was a wet brown bear hide. Hardest part was getting on my feet!
Cool thread

These were both good ones. Heads, capes, and loose meat in each.
