The National is the most prestigious trial in the bird dog world, occurring every year since 1896, and at Ames Plantation since 1915.  It’s a 3 hour (if the dogs finish the 3 hours) grueling trial in some of the worst conditions and mud you can imagine.  To win it takes a hell of a bird dog and athlete!
