Salvage permit data.
« on: February 05, 2021, 11:17:57 AM »
I was just looking at the map logging roadkill salvage data.  See a few deer salvage located in Clark and Cowlitz Co.  Is there exceptions to the rule?

Provisions of the new rule.
It is permissible to salvage and transport a deer or elk that is accidentally killed by a motor vehicle collision except for any deer killed by a motor vehicle collision in Clark, Cowlitz, and Wahkiakum counties.

Cant answer your question.

But on a side note, someone might be able to locate hunting areas to check out based on this data :dunno:

Could be either that or people that are reporting in in those areas not aware it isn't legal.  I've never reported or taken one, so I don't know if it forces you to enter only the legal counties or you just report wherever and it lets you.

Last Spring I saw a fawn get demolished by a semi in Clark County. I pulled over and called fish and wildlife to check how the salvage thing works. I told the officer exactly where I was, and she didn't mention any problems with the county I was in.

I didn't end up taking the deer. The truck had hit it going probably 60 mph...there was just nothing left that was useable.

Just my experience.

edit: where does it say we can't salvage in those counties? I'm having trouble finding it
