Don't advertise here, this is for advice on prices.

So if I get enough people to say a certain price, that becomes the 'fair market price', and we all get to buy it at a cheaper price? Oops! I meant 'fair market price'?
It is so hard, particularly now, to determine 'fair market price', I am not sure you can do it. Certainly not without research based upon 'in stock', which seems to be in short supply. I tried to get a price figured out for a couple items but when I actually clicked on them there were none in stock.

Just look at what items are selling for.   Brick of primers flies out the door at 3x multiplier, $100/ brick.   This appears to be the same case with 9mm and .22 lr.   When priced much higher, it appears to not sell.   .223 bulk is about the same.  Sells fast at 1k per 1000 rounds.  Much over that and it just sits.

I’m not saying this is a good price, but that appears to be a fair price based on my observations of what sells and what doesn’t.  I may add, I personally would not pay a 3x multiplier but do believe that is what the current market will tolerate.

There is no ammo shortage as far as I can tell. Ammo is for sale all over the place, you just have to buy it at 3x the price from the a**hat that was at Cabela's when they open the door. Seriously go on the waguns forum and look at the ammo classifieds, there is no shortage of 22lr,9mm,380,40sw,45,223,243,308,30/06,30-30,12ga. You can spot the previose spoken of easily

Well, what is 'normal'? That would be the question. I doubt prices will ever get completely back to where they were. 'Normal', until Thomas Crapper got the toilet figured out, was to have an outhouse. I would imagine there were some people that were pretty resistant to the idea of an 'indoor toilet' at first, but it certainly is 'normal' now.
Or Mr. Ford's 'assembly line', that made it possible for 'regular folk' to be able to afford a car. Or. Or. Or.

I just picked up 2,000 cci small pistol primers at Sportsman’s for $23 per thousand.   Timing is everything.

I gave all 2,000 of them to a good friend that reloads.  No charge as he often loads up rounds for my 7 mag and never asks for anything in return.

Funny you said that. I have/had been out of touch with all the ammo shortage/hoarding stuff going on. Did not know it was going on.
I have a friend I gave a 'bucket' of reloaded 9mm to as I do not have one any more. He got pretty excited and I had no idea why. Now I know. It did not make sense to me at the time as 9mm is cheap, and plentiful, right?
 
Crazy how much the stuff is going for. Makes me a little sad that I will actually hesitate to go shoot because the price (for now) would be so high if I need to restock supplies.

There's good ways to train w/o shooting for hanguns, but not so much rifles.

tax included yes that price is very close to same price pre covid for federal match magnum large rifle primers.
they were just under $65 per 1000 before tax.

exactly,there may be a shortage but a shortage is not the same as price gauging.if you shop where everyone else shops you prob. wont find much often.

I’m in Colorado.  Found them at the one in north Denver (Thornton).  Didn’t even price gouge me.

Yeah, you would have to get incredibly lucky to call in the 5 minutes they are on the shelf.  Sometimes they come out of a box and go directly into a cart without touching the shelf.

I was there in the morning and picked up 2 boxes of 9mm.   While looking around an older lady that works there asked if she could help me find anything.  I laughed and jokingly said “primers”.   She said “we’ve got some that we’re processing in the back, grab lunch and come back in an hour”.   An hour later they were on the shelves.  They had quite a few boxes.   I check every couple days for 9mm and primers.  Yesterday they had a bunch of handgun ammo, but it was all home defense expensive stuff, no target ammo.   They did have quite a few boxes of .22 ammo as well.

I wouldn’t rely on calling and asking, just pop in occasionally and get to know one of the individuals that work in that area.  They will tell you when the last truck came in and how long it generally takes to get the stuff on the floor.

No its because the counter guy calls up his buddy and let's him know they are going on the shelves in the morning . Or the same guys show up every delivery day and wipe out what's put on the shelves.

Or one of the employees comes in before their shift and buy the stuff to resell....I overheard a conversation between employees that one of them had come in and bought more than you technically can because of the SKU being the same or something....

I was told the corporate requires the store managers to post on Facebook The night before when they’re going to have Ammo put out. The next morning there will be a line a block long waiting to get in

Lots of theories.  Strictly speaking about Sportsman’s,  the shipment days aren’t always the same from what I’ve been told.  There are limits on certain products. I’ve found 9mm ammo pretty regularly with no connection to the counter guy.  I always make it a point to ask about product and recent history, some are more friendly than others with info.  You just have to make it a point to stop regularly.  If you go in on the one afternoon of the month that they are out, I know it’s hard to believe that “normal people” have found any ammo.   I’ve been in several afternoons and seen plenty of ammo.  They did move the common high requested ammo to a shelf in customer service.  I believe that’s due in some part to theft from the signs I saw the week before they moved them.   I walked away today from around 100 boxes of 9mm because none of it was the target ammo I wanted.  At 2 boxes per customer, that’s 50 folks who can get some if they needed it.  I’ve purchased over 30 boxes of target 9mm locally in the last 4 months...  it’s out there.  I’ve also never paid over $14 a box.

Say’s the two guys living in Montana and Colorado ! No offense to you miles and oh mah actually I’m jealous but it’s easy for you two to say this is the norm? Neither of you have to battle the other 1/2 million other guys looking for the same thing that you are because you live in states with less population. You’re lucky cause you have less competition for the same products.  It’s easy for you to say how easy it is from your perspective but from here where we are it’s not the same and your experience is not the same across the country. Just sayin

Denver has a decent population, and Thornton is part of Denver.  We have shortage issues, you just have to keep checking.  It’s timing.    As I was walking out yesterday with the primers a guy in the parking lot says “they have primers?”  When I said yes, this 50 something year old man started running for the front door.   So if you want to come out here cause stuff is easier to find... make the drive. 


I stop at sportsman’s several times a week.  I keep tabs on what is going on.  If you did the same in WA you could probably find some product.  Obviously don’t go in the evening when the whole population is off work for the day.

Most all the shops are on first name basis by now. When I was in Wyoming and Montana recently there was far more stuff on the shelves than in Wa. I’m getting some stuff but trust me I’ve also walked out of stores first thing in the morning 100 times lately empty handed. I get what your saying but just because you keep checking the well in a drought doesn’t make the rain appear 😉 Again totally jealous good for you!

I got a part time job at our local one.  I see freight come in on Monday, Monday, Monday and then when I tell people the next freight should be the next Monday, it's delayed and doesn't show until Wednesday.  The key thing is the stores only get freight once a week so calling multiple times doesn't help.

BTW I have found primers recently but they both limited purchase of only 200 or 500. No one is getting a brick of 1k.

Been looking for h1000 powder for months now.. im down to my last pound. Have checked all the stores.. the one that pissed me off though was sportco in fife. Worker there told me that he just bought a couple bricks of 9mm because the guy who works in their safe selling area had stashed some for a friend and the friend decided not to buy it. I did find some cheap 12 gauge buckshot at least. Also a good thing i bought a couple thousand federal match lrp before this all hit and a bunch of 220 gr .308 cal berger bullets.
