New to tracking, found some in Minot Peak area
« on: June 19, 2021, 06:02:29 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to hunting - brand new, in fact. But I've been trying to get out and get an idea of signs of anything I can get eyes on. I was out and about today and found a few tracks, wondering if anyone knows what I found!

Are they all the same size? The first one sure looks like a bear, but the rest of them look to be a bit more like raccoon depending on their size. Hard to say because it looks like they were slipping in the mud. Next time try to put something in the picture so it is easier to tell the actual size of the track which will help in identifying it

That second set of pictures definitely looks like racoon. That first pic looked like bear to me, was it the same size as all the others?

Sorry, I didn't think of scale when I took the pictures, too excited. The possible bear pictures were quite a bit bigger than the other, longer-toed picture. I was pretty sure they were bear and the others raccoon, so you have all solidified my suspicion.

I'll start setting my compass next to pics from now on, for reference. Thanks much for the input!
