Taxidermist recommendations?
« on: March 11, 2021, 08:48:46 AM »
I don't see any on the sponsor page.  Trying to get my contacts list together for the year.   ;)  Any good recommendations between NE and SW?

If you find one that does a hair on tan in western wa for less than 1,200, please let me know! If you looking for shoulder mounts, there are a few good taxi’s out there, I’ve really liked Zach’s work at rainier taxidermy. But for hair on tan rugs, I had to go to Idaho for a fair price. $350

Darin Fuson in the Spokane area is great! he communicates well, does top notch work, and is fairly priced.
For Birds I used Seth Lane in Finley. Fantastic quick work and excellently priced

For a hair on tan....ask your taxidermist to flesh your hide, turn the earls paws, etc and salt it.  Pay for his / her time and then ship it yourself to the tannery.  You will save a ton of money and get a faster return.  My taxidermist stop doing hair on tans because it was not cost effective for him to ship off single hides.  If he waited for a full shipment of hides, his customers would complain.  If he charged what needed to be charged to make a profit, his customers would complain.  Now he just preps the hides and gives them to the customer to ship.  In my opinion, it really was a good move.  It saves him time and heartache and I get a very nice product in a timely manner.
