Can't bait unit 1 and you can't bait most units prior to season.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

:chuckle:  are you an undercover agent just trying to catch someone who baits illegally?

No guys it’s actually my first time hunting up there and didn’t know I assumed you could bait in all of Idaho and went here first until I read in the regs isn’t this site for gaining knowledge about areas instead of acting like a bunch of *censored*s

Easy there mister, nobody was acting like anything. A few HW members (well respected members at that) are just trying to keep you from getting your bottom in a sling, before you headed out, yes?  I haven’t hunted black bears (on purpose) for many years but from what I’ve heard, there’s a good bunch of them up thar. Best of luck on your scouting and hunts. Get two of them fawn killers  ;)

Put a truck load of bait every 1/4 mile and you’ll be good!

Getting your panties in a bunch cause a couple guys said you can’t bait up there isn’t going to gain you any ground. This is a great site for gaining knowledge but check the regs first that way you know the rules and can ask a question that would be more relevant to the area you are asking about. Don’t think you’ll get much info now that you are calling people names!

Check the rivers, the spring chinook should be running and they will be keying in on them!  Or maybe crawdads?😂

Like other people said, don’t get butt hurt.  Jonathan was asking a feasible question, and turns out he was right :dunno:

Imagine asking a question you have absolutely no information on and then getting upset when you are given information.

Let me guess you hate ice cream because it's too cold?

 :chuckle:

Also to keep this comment somewhat on topic I'd say they'll be out of their dens. Best of luck! Shoot a giant

Lotta glassing logged and open areas where you see sign, make a play, and get in range

Pay special attention to wind, they'll wind you clear across the draw and the wind will pull your scent right down to him if they're in the bottoms.

I haven't hunted unit 1, I tend to get the reduced tags.
