Euro spike from the garden
« on: March 22, 2021, 02:33:13 PM »
Besides great eating, a spike deer also results in a really cool euro if you bury the head in your garden.  I think I'm going to leave it this color. Has a nice ominous look to it.

That coloring is awesome.  Thanks for sharing.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

I'd like to say I did it on purpose with some intent, but I just went cheap by burying the head and letting the bugs and worms do their thing.  I didn't even skin it first.  Just buried the head with hide on it. Left it there for 16 months.  There wasn't a shred of hair or meat left on it.  Although the brain cavity was a milky goo, vwhich was pretty gross but nothing sa good hose couldn't take care of.

Love the color! Beautiful👍 I’ve done this a few times, none have turned out as good as yours, maybe something in the dirt?

I bet if you mixed a healthy dose of coffee grounds into the dirt you bury it in you could really get some good coloration.
