Took the kid on her first hunting trip
« on: April 22, 2009, 11:17:33 AM »
I took my step-daughter on her first hunting trip yesterday after work.  She did really well staying quiet and not moving around a whole.  We sat in the blind for about 2 hours.  Didn't see anything but we heard a ton of gobbling, just couldn't get one to commit.  56 gobbles by her count.  Would have been nice for her to see at least a hen walk by.  But it was a good trip and she said she wants to go again.  A definite success.  Maybe tonight I'll let her try a box call.

I love how kids always count things. I remember when I was little I was obsessed with counting everything in the woods (57 deer, 19 elk, 4 chipmunks, etc).

I took my 3 year old daughter out on a "scouting" trip this morning. We didn't see any animals but she was very excited to see a couple piles of "deer poop."   :)

Spokaneslayer, you stud. Good job stepping up and breaking a newbie into hunting! You da' man!  To be honest with ya, since my kids have started to enjoy the outdoors with me, I have lost interest in doing (most)  of the shooting and reeling..... Yesterday took my familyofour out for some trout trolling....I dragged my lure behind the boat maybe 8 pulls...  :chuckle:  and instead of trying to fish myself,...just kept track of everyone elses day!
