Training Question....
« on: April 25, 2009, 06:05:51 PM »
Is it legal to take my own bird to the field (release site) and release them for training my dog?

Is there any law that prevents me from releasing my birds and shooting them during training?

I want to take my dog and work on flushing birds in the field, but would like to shoot the birds when they are flushed and them retreived.

I know Fort Lewis and Scatter Creek are the only (closes) nes pen years round on the wet side, i do believe the east side is open all year for training but could be wrong.

Any info to help would be greatly appreciated.

If the birds are properly marked, i.e. banded or the outside toe on the left foot removed, you are good to go.  Call me or stop by the store if you need more info.  I have to leave for work in a minute, so I don't have time for a detailed response.
Hunt hard and shoot straight!

page 21 of the bird regs covers some of that. traing season at large in the state is august 1 to march 31. we shoot pen raised birds on private ground  whith no issues but don't know enough about the other areas to say. just have you're documentation of where you're birds came from on you. :)
