N.E. Wa. late whitetail hunt

Anyone been up in that area this past week hunting or scouting?  Any snow yet?  Any kills?  My son, a friend and I are heading that way tonight for the next 4 days.  Just wondering what the latest is up there.

been hunting around 49 degrees north unit been really dry not much movement on deer one hog of a buck was taken on Monday heard the guy shoot seen the guy later had a 6x7 really nice buck took pictures he didn't have a good camera.going to send the pics. to him also seen a huge black bear. today we got some rain.good luck

My Father was hunting Priest Lake area and weather is moving in.  There should be some rainy weather coming in. 

There wasn't much in the way of winter kill for the whitetail so you should see at least a few.  In the last 4 years I saw 4 bucks and 3 doe.  I had a shot each year.  Bucks were all 3 yo and up and had to be over 200#s.  I called in all the bucks by grunting and one by rattling.  I know that doesn't sound great but it gets better if you're near some farm land.  They respond well to a tending grunt or a doe grunt.

The WDFW report for '05 states that 20% of bucks taken were 5 point and up.

I'll be in the Tacoma Creek area at the end of next week chasing whities.  Lots of folks but not many venture off of the roads.  Find a fresh scrape or rub and sit on it.  As long as it is not in a heavily traveled area, odds are pretty good that he'll be back in the fading hours of daylight.

Aw man...  I was supposed to be there right now.  Unfortunately, I found that taking three kids on the early hunt put a crimp in my bank account.  So I'm home working.  At least my two who were carrying rifles put lead on target.  One spike, one doe  .  My three buddies are returning tomorrow, I hope they did poorly .  Well, ok not really, but I am very jealous.

the hunting here is always good......sometimes the harvest is poor though

I'm heading over to Colville area Saturday for the first time to look for some whitetails. This is going to be my dad and I's first trip to that area to hunt deer. It's going to be a scouting/hunting trip. I think my dad was looking at the wildlife area and forest service there east of Colville. What can we expect as far as hunters/etc? Is there places we should avoid or look for? My dad has been successfull hunting whitetail in northern Idaho this time of year so we have the tactics side down.
Also, any recomendations for a hunter friendly hotel/motel over there. Looking to call today and make reservations.

I think your plan is pretty good as far as area goes, and as for hunter friendly motels.......that is all we have over here.

Two guys i know got two bucks on Monday up in Kettle Falls area, said they saw a few other shooters but couldn't get the shot off.

Well, I finally found a place to stay Saturday night. Had to book one in Kettle Falls. I realized after calling around that the hotels/motels are all filled with hunters when they told me they're full and won't have any rooms available unless some of the "deer hunters tag out." I'm hoping to put some meat in the freezer this year. The weather sounds like it might help with a little cooler temps and some rain/snow mix.
