Montana

I havent hunted Montana for a few years. Do they still offer the nonresident deal that if the adult parent draws a license that your youth age child can automatically get a nonres combo and not have to draw it? It was that way the last time I went but things change. Thanks

I just did this for my son. I called MT fish and game. The youth part has to be filled out on paper form and mailed in with the payment. Just a heads up.

Thanks I was hoping it hadn't changed .. I have done it several times with my older boys. Its great because you can wait until a few weeks before you go to buy them so kids have to keep their grades up and stay outta trouble... Montana is too expensive but this is a pretty good thing and the kids can shoot a cow elk in many units....

A couple of years ago I drove to the Kalispell Montana FWP building to buy my daughter a tag the day before the Kid's weekend opener.  A haz-mat semi rolled over on I-90 and blocked both lanes just on the East side of Lookout.  I had to backtrack and go over Thompson Pass (for the first time) and walked into the FWP building with a half hour to spare.  We were lucky to make it in time.  There was a line of at least 10 kids and parents.  It was great to see the family tradition in Montana, very helpful people.

I did this with my son 10 years ago (my how time flies). Montana folks are some of the most helpful folks that really know their stuff. I thanked the phone rep I talked tonthis year. And told her i wished my state was a tenth as helpful as they are.

Youth sponsored tags are available to children 12-17 , whose parent or guardian acquires a Montana tag, i.e. big game combo, elk combo, deer combo, elk , deer b tags. No set limit on the number that can be sold to youth, either resident or NR. Great program. My brother in Nebraska is taking advantage of this for his boy, my nephew this fall.
