Bears and water!
« on: June 22, 2021, 08:30:20 PM »
Looking forward to the opener, wife’s due in Rocktober so bear is going to be my main hunt this year. Which will be exciting because I have yet to harvest one and this year I’ve got two decent ones on camera and came across one last week while headed to check cameras.

My question is, my cameras are sitting up on a ridge line. And there’s tons of sign but I only see the bear once in a while. But it’s a main corridor for deer, elk, everything. I was checking topo maps, and realized about 2.5-3miles from my camp and about 1,200’ of elevation change there’s a bunch of water in the bottom. Hoping to go check  it out and set out a few cameras but wanted to know what you guys think of sitting on water for bear. Say it’s a hot day august first. Getting there at 3:30am and setting for wind and just holding out ?

Find the food, find the bears.

Finding the food is tough on the west side, it’s so thick and I can’t seem to find any good spots to glass from into clearings that aren’t miles and miles from gates.

Granted I’m still finding new areas. I just know there’s bears in the area I already hunt deer/elk just trying to figure out how to find them when feed is not in these big open clearings

Go high when the berries are ripe.😉
