Skagit spring bear.
« on: April 10, 2021, 06:59:37 PM »
I didn’t draw but have a family member who did. I know it’s not a tag worth drawing...

Any scuttle butt on access, on how many people can come in with you, etc?

I’d be more than happy to draw it as I think it’s worth drawing. Your buddy who drew should know the “scuttlebutt” on the rules that are set by the private timber companies and administered by Wdfw.

I've drawn that tag 3 times and tagged out everytime.   Last bear made Washington state record book.  Great tag to have.  But this year...I'll be hunting Wenaha for a color phase!!!

He’s being sarcastic. Our nephew drew it.

First day in the hills.

Some bear sign, no peels. Put on 3 miles. Great time with my nephews.

My daughter has the tag this year, a few fresh piles of scat but I don't expect too much activity for another week or two.

We were out for dawn until dusk yesterday and 5 hours this morning with 0 bears. I was super surprised.

Covered lots of country, walked roads, found peels, waved to game cameras, glassed. It’s getting down to crunch time.

Probably doesn’t help hunting with 2-4 kids  :chuckle: but it has been a blast.

Ended the season on the mountain. No success. Ran into 1 bear peeling about 30 yards off the road but couldn’t see it through the thick stuff, called and it went silent. Saw a bear at last light, right after the kids exploded out of the truck, the bear was already finding new country by the time we realized what it was.

Great season with daughters nephews and friends. Lots of wildlife, hiking and memories.
