To me, the face looks like a coyote.

It does but the ears look rounded at the top. Coyotes are pointed. Could be the picture?

I don't have much experience with wolves having only seen a couple in the wild and they were moving too fast to be good study subjects. My thought is that I would expect a wolf to be taller and longer. Wouldn't even a pup from the spring have most of its height and length? This one doesn't look that much bigger than the coyote shown for comparison. Whatever the specie it sure looks well fed and healthy.

121 Huckleberry. There are plenty of wolves around, but this one just seems odd compared to the others I have gotten on camera.

I don't think its extremely large animal by any means but if it was able to walk on top of the snow like the coyote is doing, I'm sure it would look a decent bit taller than it does.

I’m going with coyote.

It’s a wolf. As far as size I had 5 young ones coming into my elk calls to about 25 yards during archery elk. I had time to get arrow in one but never found they were not that much bigger than large coyotes. I have shot full sized Wolf and it was huge compared to coyote. That’s just a younger wolf in my opinion. It’s tough to tell with pictures and a lot of things like head features etc get distorted in pics. Plus just like people some have huge noggin for their body size and some have smaller different looking head but larger body. Younger wolf final answer 😂
