Sling Studs Or Flush Cups For Custom Stock?
« on: April 27, 2021, 10:16:08 AM »
I have a Manners on order. My original plan was 2 front studs and 1 rear. Then I thought about a picatiny rail up front with 1 stud behind it and 1 rear. I just called to change my order and they discussed flush cups.  :dunno: I have never had a rifle with flush cups. What would be the difference? Are they necessary? Are old school studs just fine? It is a hunting rifle 1st and foremost. I want to be able to mount a bipod and shoulder sling.

Thanks

I seldom use a sling and I hate having a rear stud to hang up on rear bags so I put flush cups on all my stocks. Free's up your front studs for a rail and makes on and off of your sling is very fast.

Cons could be accidentally hitting a release and having your sling pop off or on cheap mounts losing a ball bearing and having your sling fall off.

I have flush cups on my Grayboe stock. I like them better than the old style sling swivels.

Regular studs for me.  I still use my sling to shoot.

Keep the studs for rail and add flush cup on rear side.    Can always unscrew studs.

Fwiw - had a recessed mount put in for Javelin bipod.  Didnt hold up.  Need conventional or rail mount for bipod.

I don’t like having a sling on most my rifles but the few I do I like the flush cups.  Rail for bipod
