I tagged both my birds on the Northern border of the refuge. They are around. Had another hunter who heard gobbles around the Southern region as well. Bring good boots and tick repellent. Work around water sources. That was May 2nd to the 5th.

We were there for the opener.

I didn’t talk to anyone who called one in. They gobbled first four days than went quiet.
The ones I saw get killed where road hunted or hunted like deer.
We came home empty.

Record number of folks there. All the campgrounds were full.
