Opened up the camp last wed, thurs and friday.(northern Okanagan) Not one gobble heard. Last year(shot a 20# Tom) they were talking on an hourly basis. Much warmer and dryer this year. Anyone else notice.

With the burn bans across the state, I think everyone is noticing.  Hoping to hear a gobble in the next few days.

We hunted Ione/Colville 4/30,31 and 5/1 and heard a total of 3 gobbles, all within 15 minutes of each other at 10:30am That was it. Made locating birds in a new area to us, super difficult for sure. We also didn't seem to see many birds out and about like we have in years past.

I was on ok talking birds every night last week in the Okanogan. Have to really coax it out of them and get crafty with your tactics. Never hunted birds here before but they have been pressured quite a bit it seems. I don’t have a tag but my buddy missed one Thursday night I was able get to come in after a long play on his game.
Just tend your own and live.

I have heard more...or just as many gobbles as I have in previous years.  What I have noticed this year is they are gobbling from 0500-0630 ish.  Then they go silent for an hour or two before starting back up.

three weeks ago they gobbled all day long!...this weekend, didn't hear a single gobble. Found a group of 7 Jakes and tried coaxing them with some clucks and purrs, and they could care less...I think that early heat really accelerated the strut and the hens are nested up and the boys are done tired...IMO

Glad it wasn't just me - it felt like the woods were quiet and empty. The one time I had a group of jakes come in they couldn't care less about any hen calling and didn't even register that it was happening. Colville national forest woods were completely dead with just random hens walking here or there by themselves.
