Wearing Orange?
« on: May 10, 2021, 01:53:57 PM »
So, first post on this forum. I purchased my first compound bow last year, and had intended to go hunting in the fall. Due to the craziness of COVID and teaching from home I decided to skip, and go this year instead. I've been wondering, are bow hunters required to wear blaze orange? And if not, do you wear blaze orange when hunting?

Note: I did do a forum search on this topic, but the threads were pretty old.

blaze orange is not required when archery hunting during archery season. If you bow hunt during modern season it would be

And to answer the second part of your question, no, I don’t or any of my friends wear orange during bow seasons.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

Agree with the above. I don't wear it during archery but if I was in an area with a lot of bear hunters I would put it on. Not knocking bear hunters at all but people get confused with bears all the time. I think there has been at least a few fatalities in this state alone in the last 10-15 years.

The state regs do have a handful of GMU's that do require blaze orange/pink during archery season because it overlaps with a second deer tag that allows MF. Those are specifically called out, if you are not in one of those areas, you're good to go!

Read the regulations and know what unit you are going to hunt. It will tell you everything you need to know.
