Put in with the fewest number of applicants.  Hope you draw and then figure out the unit.  Problem with muzzy hunts is there are so few tags for each hunt points dont really matter too much.

Best odds look like Prescott Unit.  Unless you know someone though, you would probably have a terrible time finding elk.  I live here and I honestly don't know where I would go to kill an elk there.
Next best choice looks like Watershed.  At least there's elk in there... trouble is that you'd be competing with rifle hunters for a bull.

As mentioned above, anything else is a complete crap-shoot.  Odds are so low that your points mean very little.  I have 20 points this year...

Your points have no value. They were a lotto ticket. You paid for a chance to win a tag. Thats it. Accept this fact, burn your tag and dive head first into the glory which is resident MT hunting and fishing  :twocents:

:yeah: 100%. There really is no “burning points” here in WA. Even with your 17 points you’re looking at less than a 10% chance for any quality muzz tag and a lot of those aren’t very quality anyways  :chuckle:

I'd put in for a less than prime permit and see what happens. If you don't draw, take Karl's route.
Observatory comes to mind as one I'd probably look at. Some other Yakima area units like Bethel or Bumping or Rimrock or something like that. Not the Colockum.

Rimrock is your best chance, but like was said before.  In this shathole state there is no such thing as burning points.

Mountainview added the state land 4-O ranch to that tag so enty of farm fields to hunt on . Wouldn't need horses for that section of that unit.  Central WA tags would be easier to draw with more available compared to the blues with single digits available for each unit.

But remember Washington is a lottery random draw . Points are just a catalyst to increase your hope not your odds.

There's no such thing as burning points in this state.  Unless you've somehow managed to turn in 10000 poachers.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice
