Washington record sturgeon
« on: June 01, 2021, 01:23:12 PM »
I was looking over all of the state records , and noticed the only one missing is white and green sturgeon . There was even a marlin on the list that was caught out of Westport . I couldn’t think of a reason why there wouldn’t be one , at least from back in the day when you could keep any size on many rivers . Anyone have any thoughts on this ?  :dunno:

Must be the reason, they don't have a record for lingcod either.  Must be the current slot limit in some areas.

I'm pretty sure the lower pic above is from Eastern Europe/Russia. Beluga sturgeon get MASSIVE and were caught constantly for their caviar. I've seen pics of a 14' from Hell's Canyon and a 14' from Cascade locks. These pics are belugas as well.

Dang those are huge ! WA state record lingcod is 61 lbs , caught in the San Juan’s . It’s under the greenling category . It just seems strange there isn’t one . I’m going to have to ask our knowledgeable DFW.

Back when those pictures were taken they weren't worried about having their name in a record book.

They were more interested in feeding their families.

Back in 1970 my ex father in law and his partner in crime released a 10 footer at snag cove.

Makes sense, I was just eating greenling last night and thinking how much it tastes like lingcod.
