IDAHO Controlled hunt deadline June 5...Tomorrow
« on: June 04, 2021, 07:40:07 AM »
Just a reminder that the 1st controlled hunt deadline for Idaho (for deer, elk, pronghorn and fall bear) is June 5.  That is tomorrow.

Results should be released by July 10

Do you know when they usually draw quick turnover?

Ya, that fee is irritating

its absurd and insulting.
Yep.  I don’t know why they discount the rifle tags.

Absolutely. I refuse to pay it.  I'll go archery hunt nevada or colorado for deer instead

I’m in. Donating money to ID is less painful than donating to WA.

And remember...If you hunt (or fish) unit 5 (CDA tribe reservation) there is a new $600 use fee for folks under 55 y/o who don't live on the reservation. This pertains to Idaho Residents as well.

I'm sure a lot of guys will be pissed when they find this out after buying a unit 5 deer tag without realizing this. I almost bought a deer tag there, but went with another unit after learning this info. Idaho just got my application donation, so good luck to everyone in the draw.

Could be really interesting...I still have not received an answer from the BIA about the legality of this fee (2 emails and multiple weeks waiting).  I have also heard that some of the state prosecutors think this is illegal and will not be prosecuting.  If it is not legal will I get my money back from the tribe?

I wouldn't bank on it as the fee is for access to tribal lands that the tribe owns. The state has no jurisdiction on tribal land, so this is similar to Hancock or Weyco charging an access fee for their land. My guess is violators would have to go through tribal court and I'm guessing they aren't going to just say, oh it's okay and we didnt really want your $600.

I have no doubt the CDA Tribe can charge what they want.  Not at all uncommon for many tribes in the southwest.  The land is held in trust for their benefit...almost negligent for them to not charge a fee when a market clearly exists.

Been a while since I’ve put in for permits in Idaho, have things changed or do you only need a hunting license still to put in?
“In common with”..... not so much!!
