Had my first “success”
« on: May 08, 2021, 04:38:14 PM »
Didn’t kill a bird but got a gobble, hunkered down and called him in.  He came charging in out of nowhere and Of course my gun was across my lap and i wasn’t very well concealed so when tried to swing on him he started to run and i rushed the shot and missed.  My mistakes are many but easy to correct so I’m pretty happy about that and will take this as a win.

That's exciting and it's always nice to know what you are doing can and does work.

Try moving slow and smooth if a bird gets the jump on you. You may find you have a little more wiggle room than you think if you aren't trying to move real fast and get on them quick. The faster the movement the more alarmed they will be. I also switch to the diaphragm in my mouth when they seem close so I can have my shotgun up and ready. Now go out and call in another!
I laugh in the face of Danger. Ha ha ha Danger Face!

This right here, I had set my phone gun on my side. I wasn’t super concealed. But I bided my time and went slow took about 30 minutes to get into shooting position. Waiting for them to look away, their hearing is much better then I thought. They heard the grass rustle. But me going slow, ended with me doubling on my last day out for spring. Don’t give up man, you just got the validation we all hope for when we start. Just know they can take their sweet time coming in.
