Federal Premium Heavyweight TSS Turkey Shotshells

Was at Sportco this morning and saw they had quite a bit of TSS in stock.
Just thought I would say something if anyone wanted to get a box or two for fall or next year.

Also, thanks for all the advice on diaphragm calls earlier this spring. I figured out what I was doing wrong...
I had them in backwards.

Had a few good hunting trips this season.

1st was over in the kettle falls area, went April the 14th through the 18th, saw a few, heard a few gobbles in the distance but no action. So mostly it was a fun camping trip with my father in law.

2nd was in concunully, went April 29th through the 2nd. The same story, saw a few, heard a few, but we did get on top of one gobbler the 1st morning but couldn't get him to play ball. I think he was within a hundred yards. But we did kill like 40 trout at the reservoir.

Anyway, there is always next year, and if it wasn't challenging it wouldn't be fun, right?

Ya, I grabbed a box Russ, looked at the price, and immediately put them back. Plus my over and under in chambered for 2 3/4.

I’ll stick with the Longbeard XR’s for the price. I killed my bird at 53 yards and cartwheeled him backwards. If you’re shooting a 410 I could see wanting to shoot the TSS but they’re too expensive for little to no benefit if you’re me shooting a 12 gauge.

That's pretty much what I was thinking.
If there was a 25% premium or something, I's like to try TSS.

As it is, I shoot 3 1/2"  #6.

My turkeys die from 5 feet to 35 yards, so I can't see spending the money.

I am shooting 3"  Federal TSS 12 ga 9 shot first time this year.   When I bought them they were about the price of a box of XR Long Beards.  Rolled my bird down the hill 20 yards.  Dan-O no reason to shoot those 3 ½" unless you like to punish your shoulder 😏😜.

The XR longboards are 10 round boxes. I get that’s it’s awesome stuff and I don’t mind paying for awesome stuff. Just don’t feel like the cost is warranted if you’re shooting a 12 gauge.
And I agree that all Dan-O is doing is punishing himself with those 3.5” rounds.

I am shooting 3"  Federal TSS 12 ga 9 shot first time this year.   When I bought them they were about the price of a box of XR Long Beards.  Rolled my bird down the hill 20 yards.  Dan-O no reason to shoot those 3 ½" unless you like to punish your shoulder 😏😜.

Some guys punish themselves by hiking 10 miles into the wilderness.

I sleep in a trailer, and get all my punishment in a split second.   

I will say, that I shoot 3 1/2" at ducks and geese as well.   
A good day hunting them can result in a sore shoulder for me, but I just can't seem to shoot anything but the biggest possible shell.   If they made 3 1/2" low base 8-shot, I'd probably use it for doves......

Well @Dan-o I can load you some 3 1/2 #8 if you like. I've done 3 1/2 10 gauge with 2 1/4oz of #8 for a friend who only shoots a 10ga for everything. You should see the mess a 10ga with #2 steel does on a quail or Wilson Snipe.

They're pricey but they're awesome, just don't miss! Longbeard XR is great for the price, I have a buddy that's taken gobblers at quite the distance with them.

I used Federal's TSS 3rd Degree this year and have no complaints either. It's just a budget TSS blend that contains 1/3rd TSS, 1/3rd copper, and 1/3rd hardened lead to ease the financial burden of the cost of full TSS.

got a good deal thru Apex ammo recently. setting up for next season before a mad rush on ammo... if you don't buy those cigar loads and run reasonable amounts of shot TSS isn't that bad... $40's a box of 5, and enough purchased or right time no ship costs. when i consider all the money i have invested in every part of a hunt save ammo, shooting one of these loads is never going to be something to penny pinch on.... they really do put the smack down.

Tss for 410 application is awesome. Puts the hammer down. Ducks, geese, turkeys, everything. I was amazed at how well it does.
